State Large Group Festival Itinerary- THURSDAY, March 29th

11:15 AM- 11:40 AM Band students who have first lunch, eat first lunch.

11:40 AM- 12:10 PM Band students who do not have first lunch, eat second lunch.

12:10 PM- Report to bandroom. At this time, you may change into performance attire. Gather your instrument and music, head to the buses.

12:30 pm- Buses depart for Maryville, NWMSU campus

1:45 pm- Buses arrive at NWMSU. Band unloads quickly and quietly. We may be standing in the hallway for some time waiting to go in the warm up room. Be prepared.

1:55 pm to 3:15 pm- Student and director cellphones will be powered off and turned in to avoid any "accidents" while we're in contest.

2:15 pm- Benton Concert Band goes into warm-up room.

2:40 pm- Benton Concert Band will make music in Charles Johnson Theater at NWMSU.

3:05 pm- Sight-reading session.

Upon conclusion of sight-reading, we will be waiting for our scoresheets to come out before our return. This normally takes around a half hour. During this time, it is appropriate to change out of performance clothes, get your phone back, and watch other bands (with your phone still off), or converse outside of performance buildling.

~3:45 pm- Buses depart NWMSU campus

~5:00 pm- All students are dismissed from a clean Benton bandroom.

Itinerary for Omaha

Benton Jazz Band
Omaha Itinerary

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25TH
7:30 AM - Student report time to Benton
8:00 AM- Bus departs for Omaha, NE
~9:00 AM- Short snack/breakfast stop in Rockport, MO
*This is not included in the trip cost. If you would like to purchase food, you will need extra money for this stop.

11:30 AM- Bus arrives at Holland Center
11:45 AM- Benton to assigned homeroom for cases
DO NOT PLAY IN THIS ROOM!

12:00 PM- Benton Jazz in warm-up room
12:30 PM- Benton Jazz Band in Performance
*Performance is in Scott Recital Hall inside Holland Center
*Following the performance, we will have a clinic in a separate room.
*Following clinic, we will take a group photos. Students may also order individual photos from this event. They were given an order form two weeks ago.

1:30 PM- Lunch at Spaghetti Works in Old Market District (covered in trip cost)
3:00 PM- Back to Holland Center for Doc Severinsen clinic and Awards ceremony/concert
5:30 PM- Depart for Westroads Mall for dinner
6:00 PM- Dinner at Westroads Mall (Students receive $5 for meal in mall)
7:15 PM- Depart for Holland Center and Doc Severinsen Big Band Concert
8:00 PM- Doc Severinsen Big Band Concert
10:30 PM- Check in to hotel (Omaha Executive Suites)
11:00 PM- Room check and Lights out

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 26TH
7:30 AM Wake up call
8:00 AM- 9:00 AM Complimentary Breakfast in hotel
9:00 AM Bus Departs for Benton
~Noon- Students are dismissed from Benton when all instruments are stored correctly

Schedule for State Large Group Festival Thursday, March 31st


10 AM- Band is dismissed from class

10:30 AM- Bus departs from Benton to Maryville

11:30 AM- 12:30 PM- Lunch in Maryville

(your choice of Burger King, Taco John’s, Hy-Vee)

12:50- Unload at NWMSU

1:25- Benton in Warm-up room

1:50- Benton in Stage Performance

2:15- Benton in Sight-reading

~3:00- Depart for Benton

~4:00- Arrive at Benton

Everyone is dismissed after bus and bandroom are clean

Notes:

Dress for tomorrow’s performance is White dress top, black dress bottom, all black belt/socks and shoes. Be responsible to the group’s professional appearance and wear only all dress white on top and all dress black on bottom!

WATCH YOUR MUSIC AND YOUR INSTRUMENT MAKE ITS WAY ON TO THE BUS!!!!

You will need to bring money for lunch.
